Get zone 2 training right

Newsletter #808: Sunday, 10th May 2026

Hey runners, in today’s newsletter, we start with the kind of race-day story that sounds made up until you realize it actually happened.

One missed turn turned a first-time half marathon into a full marathon, producing the sort of chaotic, accidental endurance feat that only running seems capable of creating. It’s funny, painful, impressive, and somehow weirdly relatable all at once.

From there, we shift into the mental and physical side of the sport — the psychology of visualization, the realities of runner’s trots, and the small adjustments that can quietly make you a stronger, smoother runner over time.

And as always, we round things out with the training side of things too, from cadence and efficiency to the Zone 2 conversation that still seems to dominate nearly every serious running discussion right now.
