Hey runners, in today’s newsletter, we’re still processing a heavy week in New York.

Rachel Apa’s father has shared the texts she sent him during the race, from “I’ve never felt this good” at Mile 9 to “Ow, ow” by Mile 20. Her family has started a foundation to teach athletes about rhabdomyolysis, and we’ve broken down what every runner should know about it.

On a lighter note, we’ve gone deep on Andreas Almgren’s win, including the fueling plan built on breath tests and a calculator that scales his training to a 16-week plan at your level.

And as always, we round things out with the practical stuff: whether running is really bad for your knees, seven active recovery options, and how you’re probably.

Senior News Editor, Marathon Handbook
