Harry Styles donates thousands to a runner

Newsletter #845: Monday, 22nd June 2026

Hey runners, in today's newsletter, the speed is coming from every direction, and one of the headlines arrives from a name you would not expect.

Sha'Carri Richardson ran her fastest 100m since 2022, clocking 10.77 in a low-key Florida meet to beat Olympic 400m gold medalist Shaunae Miller-Uibo and post the second-fastest women's 100m time of 2026. In Montreuil, world 10,000m champion Jimmy Gressier rewrote the French 3000m record with 7:28.67, vaulting into the European all-time top 10. And in one of the most jaw-dropping youth performances in years, 14-year-old Luke Surface, an eighth grader from Raleigh who has not even started high school yet, ran a middle school world record for 5,000m at Nike Outdoor Nationals.

In the heart-warming corner, Harry Styles surprised Laurence Denis with a donation of more than $2,500 after Denis ran 850 miles across Britain in 23 days in memory of his late parents. The donation pushed him past his fundraising goal and left him in tears.

And as always, we round things out with the practical stuff: five common mistakes new runners make and how to dodge them, the seven best foam roller exercises for your legs, and whether nose or mouth breathing actually serves you better out on the run.

The Wahoo KICKR RUN — built for serious runners

If you've ever resented your treadmill for feeling more like cardio equipment than a real training tool, the Wahoo KICKR RUN is the antidote.

The KICKR RUN pairs natively with COROS watches so your indoor miles carry the same weight as your outdoor ones, runs on a powered RunFree mode that adapts belt speed to your pace automatically, and is engineered around runner-specific geometry: long deck, soft landing, near-silent motor. The most thoughtfully-designed treadmill we've seen for serious runners.
